Scholarship Committee
A special letter to each of the Dance Unlimited Graduates;
It has been a few years since you last danced on the Dance Unlimited stage! But you have not been forgotten and I speak of you often. Since your years of graduation from high school I know that you have studied different programs in college and vocationally. Perhaps you have heard of the college scholarship honoring my mother for all that she did to support each of us as we worked toward our dreams. Because we do not have a Dance Unlimited 2007 Graduate we are awarding a $200 scholarship to every former Dance Unlimited graduate. Should you no longer be in a program of study, the $200 can be donated to a charity of your choosing. I’m sure if you had an opportunity to visit with the students at Dance Unlimited you would have tons of information to share. I want every student dancing at the studio to know that someday the time that they spent at Dance Unlimited will help them in whatever they endeavor. You have heard me say (more times than you wanted to hear it) “we are not just learning about dance, what you learn here will carry you through some rough situations in the future.” I hope that you are continuing to take part in community service and remember, “God didn’t make you that beautiful, intelligent and talented just for your own use!” God bless you tons, Love, Zorene |
Information Regarding Dance Unlimited Scholarship:
Hello Dance Unlimited Family,
I wanted to address a change that will begin this year in regards to our scholarship program. When the Dance Unlimited Scholarship was first offered in 2006 the expectations for receiving the money were based as stated in scholarship information. This information remains true today.
*Service to others-our committee looks at the service you have provided for others over your years at Dance Unlimited (this would include our Dance Unlimited nursing home Christmas Shows, participation in community events that we have been asked to participate in or sponsor, Pikes Peak Performance Company, and any volunteer activities that you have participated in on your own or through school and other programs.
*Dedication-your dedication to your Dance Unlimited team members, families and staff for starters-this includes your dedication to all of your dance classes, as well as your dedication to your school work, working a job, and serving your community through your volunteer efforts.
*Mentorship-how well and what kind of mentor you are for our younger dancers in all of our dance programs.
*Accomplishments-your personal academic accomplishments as well as community volunteer accomplishments. Please note that your dance
accomplishments are not what we are looking for. Competition scores and awards will not be considered.
*Participation-in your dance classes, dance community, school community, volunteer community.
*Citizenship-how well you treat and respect the other humans around you. Your behavior in classes, in the lobby, and your interaction with
the people in your space.
*Perseverance-do you get back at it when the going gets tough? Are you willing to stay in a class you may feel is beneath your skill level
until the teacher of that class says you are ready. Are you willing to try and learn a new skill until you master it, even if it takes practice at home and doing it as many times as it takes in class?
Our goal at Dance Unlimited for the past 25 years has been to help nurture and create all round good people as well as all round good
dancers. We are thankful that we have a dedicated staff that is unparalleled in this community to make this happen within your dancing education. We do not guarantee that you will dance on a college dance team, or become a professional dancer, we do guarantee that if you have taken the core values of our scholarship program and applied them to your life, you will have all the skills necessary to continue on more successfully as you continue to strive toward your goals.
Our scholarship program came about as a way for me to honor my mother, Virginia. The core values of the scholarship are the things she stressed to me as I was growing up, and things that I feel are as important today as they were 50 years ago. My focus with our scholarship program has always been and will always be these values. Because I believe so strongly that these values will make our students better people in this world and because I have been blessed this scholarship program was created. It is not funded by any individuals, or companies other than Dance Unlimited, LLC. wanting to give back to our graduating seniors the joy you have given the elderly, your dance team, your teachers, the younger dancers you mentor and those that you perform for.
If you are a senior and you are interested in receiving a Dance Unlimited scholarship, please submit the following by the end of March your senior year:
* A short essay as to what dancing and Dance Unlimited has meant to you.
* Your service to others over the years, highlighting your last four years.
* Your school transcript
Love to you all!
